Salesforce just had a strong quarter, and Wall Street is excited about Agentforce — their AI agent platform that's supposed to handle customer interactions automatically. They also dropped billions partnering with Anthropic to make it smarter.

Good for their stock price. Less clear what it means for you.

Here's the honest translation: Salesforce is betting that AI agents will justify their existing pricing and keep enterprise customers locked in. Agentforce is a real product, not vaporware — but it's built for companies with dedicated Salesforce admins, implementation partners, and the budget to configure it properly. The AI layer doesn't fix the underlying problem that customizing Salesforce to match how your business actually works still requires a consultant, a statement of work, and a waiting period.

If you've already been through one Salesforce implementation that didn't stick, this news isn't the reason to go back. AI on top of a platform that never quite fit your workflows is still a platform that doesn't fit.

The companies getting burned aren't using bad software — they're using software built for someone else's business, now with smarter automation on top of the same rigid foundation.
