Salesforce (CRM) Signs Definitive Agreement to Acquire Contentful - Yahoo Finance UK

Salesforce just bought Contentful — a content infrastructure platform used by thousands of companies to manage digital content across channels.

Translation: Salesforce is getting deeper into managing what your customers actually see and read, not just logging that they exist in your pipeline.

For you, this probably means one of two things. Either your Salesforce bill gets a new line item bundled into a "suite" you didn't ask for, or the content tools you already use quietly get sunset in favor of Contentful. Neither of those is a choice you made.

This is the pattern. Salesforce acquires something useful, wraps it in their pricing model, and you spend the next year in implementation meetings trying to connect it to the workflow you built three acquisitions ago.

You've been through enough of these announcements to know the drill — the press release is for investors, the integration timeline is for consultants, and the invoice lands on your desk.

If your CRM keeps growing in every direction except the one your team actually needs, another acquisition isn't the signal to double down. It's the signal to ask whether the platform is working for you or the other way around.

The companies that stop chasing the vendor roadmap are usually the ones that finally build something that fits.
